2021: Together Again—CPME’s 2020 Year-End Online and Offline Series of Events Successfully Concludes

    Time:

    2022-07-15

It is precisely in times of hardship that courage and determination shine through; it is only through rigorous tempering that jade can be refined. 2020 was an extraordinary year. Under the call of the Party and the state, all colleagues at Zhengda Machinery & Electronics fought against the epidemic, resumed production, boosted consumption, and expanded markets. While supporting the entire society in its fight against the pandemic, we achieved historically outstanding performance.

To summarize the achievements of the past year, look forward to 2021, and comply with the policies and calls of the Party and the state, from January 25 to February 6, 2021, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics held a grand “Restarting Together in 2021” series of year-end events—combining online and offline formats. This event consisted of four parts: year-end training, a fun sports meet, a year-end summary conference, and a Spring Festival gala.

    I. Year-End Training Series

From January 25 to February 6, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd. kicked off its annual training series—a series that was both intense and well-paced. The training program encompassed several key components: internships for recent graduates, the first-phase onboarding training for new employees in 2021, and eight specialized thematic training sessions. More than 30 instructors, including President Wang Zhenghu of Foshan Zhengda Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd. and General Manager Lin Yi of Lingyi Industrial Co., Ltd., worked together in unison to create a “luxurious feast of spiritual nourishment to welcome the New Year.”

On the 25th, 11 graduates from the Class of 2021 reported for their internships. Attending the welcome ceremony and dinner were Lin Zong from Zero One Industry, Lian Canhuan, General Manager of Siemens Motor Division, Peng Jinsong, General Manager of Zhengda Automation Company, Lu Zaiqing, General Manager of Shunde Branch, and Lei Yuqiang, Director of the Human Resources Department. Afterwards, the intern graduates, divided into small groups, embarked on experiential team-building activities titled “The Beauty of Foshan” and “My Perspective on the Electromechanical Industry.” Following that, they visited the logistics center for an educational tour, during which Deputy Manager Zheng Zhihui patiently shared insights into the warehouse’s operations. In just one week, the schedule was packed with meaningful experiences. They’ve grown familiar with Foshan and are already looking forward to what lies ahead.

Starting on the 31st, the intern graduates joined 53 colleagues—both from various departments and online and offline—to participate in the first session of the 2021 New Employee Onboarding Training. The high-caliber lineup of instructors, inspiring stories behind the company’s success, down-to-earth sharing sessions by outstanding employees, carefully selected video-based learning materials, and interactive exchanges aimed at mutual growth enabled everyone to gain a deeper and clearer understanding of the company’s profound cultural heritage, vast development opportunities, and strong sense of social responsibility. At the closing session, Wan Yingtong, an e-commerce assistant at Wuxi Ling, shared: “I’m extremely grateful to the company for giving us this opportunity to get to know more colleagues and listen to our excellent senior colleagues. They used real-life examples from their own experiences to help us draw valuable lessons and insights, enabling us to adapt more quickly to this environment and integrate into our work faster, so that we can soon become qualified members of Zhengda. Among them, General Manager Lian recounted how he himself first joined Zhengda, as well as the challenging journey he went through in sales. Meanwhile, Generals Wang and Lin provided us with detailed introductions to Zhengda’s rapid development history and patiently answered all our questions. This helped me gain a fresh perspective on the company’s current reality. I feel truly honored to be part of such a wonderful company. Through these past few days of training—especially learning from General Manager Wang’s life story, from childhood to old age—I’ve deeply appreciated the importance of continuous learning and working with a down-to-earth attitude. Tomorrow, it’s up to both you and me to strive together, do what we can, and contribute our own strength to the team’s development. Achieving win-win outcomes is our ultimate goal.”

From February 4 to 6, a total of eight training sessions were held, covering topics such as finance (levels one, two, and three), procurement, credit assessment, risk management, effective communication and collaborative win-win relationships between sales supervisors and subordinates, and legal matters. Nearly 1,200 people participated in these sessions. The core purpose of these trainings was to convey the company’s specific requirements and standards to everyone, thereby improving work efficiency and helping participants resolve difficulties and challenges they encounter in their daily work. In particular, the session titled “Preventing Legal Risks in Business Contracts After the Implementation of the Civil Code,” presented by Cai Lingbo, Senior Partner at Yingke Law Firm (Foshan), Beijing, provided an in-depth analysis of the provisions related to business contracts, drawing on the newly promulgated “Encyclopedia of Social Life”—the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China. This session not only helped participants identify potential pitfalls but also brought many to sudden realization and left them with abundant insights and takeaways.

    II. Fun Sports Games Section

To enrich employees’ lives, further enhance their professional qualities, inspire them to bravely challenge and overcome themselves, strengthen cohesion among employees, and foster a spirit of mutual assistance within teams, the 8th Sports Meet of Zero One Science and Technology Park was held on the afternoon of February 5. Due to the pandemic, units from other districts organized their own internal sports meets and carried them out concurrently.

This sports event features a total of 12 events. Compared to previous years, we’ve retained four key competitions: the table tennis tournament, which carries forward Chinese cultural heritage; the passionate basketball tournament; the plank challenge, pushing participants to their physical limits; and the highly anticipated tug-of-war. We’ve also kept the mind-stimulating games of checkers and “24 Points,” the speed-based jump rope contest, the stability-focused ball-carrying run, and the teamwork test of the three-legged race. In addition, we’ve introduced several new events: the water balloon-blowing contest, which tests one’s vocal skills; the track-and-ball exercise, designed to enhance finger dexterity; and the “bone-shrinking” circle-around-the-track challenge, which requires practice in flexibility and coordination.

Units from the outer districts also organized unified activities including jump rope, table tennis juggling, blowing balls across the water surface, two-person three-legged race, and "You Draw, I Guess." Amidst repeated challenges, the athletic participants were constantly filled with laughter and joyful chatter.

The Dashing and Zhengyi Sheng business units in Dongguan jointly organized a sports meet at the Dongguan branch. General Manager You Rongzhu and General Manager Zhang Xiao personally participated in the basketball game, and players from both teams engaged in fierce competition on the court.

At the Xi'an sub-venue, Zheng Yilong meticulously organized indoor sports activities. In the water-based ping-pong-blowing event, Zhang Zhuowei was carefully blowing a ping-pong ball toward the opposite end, while General Manager Wang Hailong and other colleagues stood nearby, watching and timing the performance.

At the Chengdu sub-venue, two teams are fiercely competing in the "two people, three legs" event of the Chengdu Nengda Fun Sports Meet. Liu Hong from Chengdu Nengda shared, “The athletes are brimming with enthusiasm and giving their all; spectators are all leaning forward, cheering loudly. Everyone’s faces are flushed with joy, radiating happiness. Winning or losing is secondary—after all, strengthening corporate culture and team building is the ultimate goal. I exercise, therefore I’m healthy.”

Wang Ting from Chongqing Zhengyi Ming shared, “This event provided our colleagues, who’ve been working hard all year, with a chance to relax. Through the engaging and enjoyable mini-games, new employees were able to quickly integrate into the team, find a sense of belonging, and strengthen communication among all staff—yielding excellent results. We’re confident that thanks to this sports event, in our future work we’ll become even more coordinated and united. 2021—we’re together, ready to set off again!”

    (Wuxi Lingdian Two-Person Three-Legged Race)

At the Wuxi venue, the Wuxi Lingdian Fun Sports Meet is currently challenging participants in the "two-person three-legged race." Ma Rongjie and Liu Tao are giving their all as they sprint toward the finish line. Although the weather wasn't on their side that day—light rain was falling steadily—it couldn't dampen the enthusiastic sports spirit of the friends.

At the sports meet, the three-on-three basketball tournament was one of the biggest highlights. The athletes on the basketball court undoubtedly became the stars of the event, giving their all to fight for victory and perfectly embodying Zhengda’s “wolf spirit.” In the end, the Shanghui Watch Team emerged as the champion, while the Zhengyi Team—composed of Foshan Zhengda Automation Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Mingchen Industrial Technology Co., Ltd.—and the Yida Team took second and third place respectively, with only a narrow margin separating them.

The highly anticipated plank challenge is also one of the highlights of the annual sports event. Everyone gave it their all, determined to break last year’s record. Liu Zihan, the daughter of Dian Qin from the Human Resources Department, took home the championship this time with a time of 20 minutes and 22 seconds.

    Plank—A Test of Willpower

A long rope connects our unity and friendship; a clear, resonant shout conveys each other’s courage and strength. The tug-of-war competition has captured everyone’s attention. After fierce competition among many teams, the “United Team”—composed of the Mechanical Transmission, National Reduction, Curtis Innovation, and Electrical departments—faced off against Siemens Motor Division in the ultimate showdown. In the end, the “United Team” emerged as the champion, while Siemens Motor Division took home the runner-up prize.

III. Year-End Summary and Awards Ceremony

Looking back on 2020, thanks to the concerted efforts of all Zhengda employees, the company made comprehensive progress in all its operations and advanced its strategic initiatives across the board. Despite the challenging circumstances, Zhengda soared against the tide in 2020, once again achieving remarkable success. Among them, Zero One Industry broke through the billion-dollar mark, delivering outstanding and commendable results. On the afternoon of February 6, the “Together, Let’s Start Anew” Zhengda Mechanical & Electrical 2020 Year-End Summary Conference was solemnly held at the main venue—the International Conference Center on the 4th floor of Building 1 at Zero One Science and Technology Park. In response to the nation’s call for epidemic prevention and control, and embracing innovative thinking, this conference adopted a hybrid online-and-offline format, simultaneously connecting with three sub-venues in Foshan headquarters and seven additional sub-venues located in other provinces: Dongguan, Changsha, Chengdu, Xi'an, Chongqing, Wuxi, and Jinan. More than 400 representatives—leaders and employees from various units under Zhengda Mechanical & Electrical—attended the conference.

The leaders attending this conference on-site include: Wang Zhenghu, President of CPMEC; Lin Yi, General Manager of Zero One Industry; Lian Canhuan, General Manager of Siemens Motor Division; Shi Hao, General Manager of Foshan Bearing; Peng Jinsong, General Manager of CPMEC Automation; Lei Yuqiang, Director of HR and General Manager of Real Estate at CPMEC; and Pan Shaohong, Manager of the Audit Department at CPMEC—altogether 30 leaders. First, CEO Lin reviewed ZeroOne Industry’s performance in 2020. As ZeroOne surpassed the 1-billion mark, CEO Lin then shifted his perspective to the post-1-billion era and provided a detailed analysis and elaboration on ZeroOne Industry’s key priorities for the period following this milestone. From five distinct levels—risk control, rational team building, platform empowerment, training systems, and sustainable growth—CEO Lin set forth new expectations for the entire ZeroOne team. Finally, drawing inspiration from famous quotes by Buffett and others, CEO Lin encouraged everyone to grow, embrace change, and break through existing boundaries. At the same time, he highlighted the role of the nation and government in 2020. The great achievements made this year inspire everyone to remain confident in continuing our development.

Next, Ouyang Gui’an, Deputy General Manager of Foshan Zhengda Bearing Co., Ltd., summarized the achievements made in 2020 and outlined the development direction for 2021. In 2021, Foshan Bearing will continue to grow along multiple dimensions, including diversifying its business lines, strengthening its e-commerce presence, and collaborating with China’s leading bearing brands. Deputy General Manager Ouyang proposed implementing the “721” learning culture: 10% from theory, 20% from communication, and 70% from practice. By comparing himself against these benchmarks and identifying gaps, he aims to achieve even greater progress in 2021.

Finally, President Wang delivered a keynote speech titled “Keeping Pace with the Times, Creating a Virtuous Cycle.” First, President Wang summarized the past year of 2020 from three perspectives: personally leading his team to meet new challenges, the company seizing opportunities to explore new markets, and the nation rising as a major power in its fight against the pandemic. Next, President Wang outlined the work directions for 2021 at the personal, corporate, and national levels from three angles: continuing to build a solid foundation and lead the team forward, pursuing steady development while maintaining stability, and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Finally, President Wang expressed gratitude toward the leaders of our country across generations for guiding us to stand up, become prosperous, and grow strong; he also expressed gratitude toward the nation, his colleagues at the company, society, and this inspiring era that spurs us on to greater achievements.
