In January, though the chill of deep winter had yet to fully set in, the first signs of spring’s vitality were already quietly emerging. Within the Guangdong Lingyi Science and Technology Park, fresh green grasses sprouted, warblers flitted through the air, and sunlight bathed the park in a breathtakingly beautiful spring scene. From January 21 to 27, 2019, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics solemnly held the “2019 Hand-in-Hand Together”—2018 Year-End Series of Events at its Foshan headquarters, within the Guangdong Lingyi Science and Technology Park. The event consisted of five segments: new employee training, a fun sports meet, an annual summary meeting cum awards ceremony, an annual recognition gala cum reunion dinner, and a successor-exchange activity. In January, though the chill of deep winter had yet to fully spread, the first signs of spring’s vitality were already quietly emerging. Within the Guangdong Lingyi Science and Technology Park, fresh green grasses are budding, warblers are flying about, and sunlight bathes the park in a breathtakingly beautiful spring scene.
From January 21 to 27, 2019, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics grandly held the “2019 Hand in Hand” — 2018 Year-End Series of Events at its headquarters in Foshan, within the Guangdong Lingyi Science and Technology Park. The event consisted of five segments: new employee training, a fun sports meet, an annual summary meeting and awards ceremony, an annual recognition gala and reunion dinner, and a successor exchange activity.

    I. New Employee Training Section

To help all new employees gain a deeper understanding of the company and experience its culture firsthand through active participation, and to foster a profound appreciation—through the integration of mind and body—of what it means to be a qualified member of the Zhengda family, from January 21 to 24, 56 new colleagues from various units of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics gathered in Conference Rooms A and B on the 4th floor of Building 1 at Lingyi Science and Technology Park to attend the second 2018 New Employee Onboarding Training Course, which lasted three days and four nights. The instructors included Wang Zhenghu, President of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics; Lin Yi, General Manager of Lingyi Industrial Company; Lian Canhuan, General Manager of Siemens Motor Division; Huang Xuehua, Office Director; Ye Xiaohong, Marketing Manager; and Hu Qiuyuan, Deputy General Manager of Zhengda Automation. The comprehensive training concluded successfully with a solemn opening ceremony and an enthusiastic summary session.
On the one hand, we’ve summarized our experiences and, while continuing to deliver content on “Corporate Development and Corporate Culture,” “Office Management and Reception Etiquette,” and “Knowledge Is Power,” we’ve also introduced new elements, including sharing sessions by outstanding general managers as well as skills training related to finance and marketing.
On the one hand, drawing on the guidance provided by President Wang Zhenghu during his studies in Europe and China, we have fully embraced the global perspective and adopted the learning spirit of “drawing on others’ experiences is itself a form of innovation.” As a result, we’ve launched a series of initiatives—for example, requiring all participants to engage in self-study prior to training and organizing corresponding exams; conducting morning runs at 6:30 a.m. and continuing study sessions until 10:30 p.m.; holding symposiums for both new and veteran employees, followed by further communication and exchanges among the leaders who participated in these discussions.
During the effectiveness survey, Yang Xiaoting from Foshan Bearing wrote: “Everything I saw and experienced throughout the entire training will leave a deep impression on me. This was a rare and precious learning opportunity in my life! It was fantastic and incredibly heartwarming! Choosing Zhengda was definitely the right decision I made!”
One colleague wrote anonymously, “As a new employee, I feel that through the training over the past few days, I’ve gradually integrated into this team. Moreover, the company’s style—marked by self-discipline, diligence, and high self-expectations—constantly reminds me to maintain a rigorous and positive attitude every day and to demonstrate my value within the company through my own efforts.”
At the closing session on the evening of the 24th, Huang Haoyuan, a technical engineer from Dongguan Dasheng, shared: “At first, I didn’t understand anything—I had absolutely no idea about the headquarters. But over these past few days, the many warm greetings and the genuine care we’ve received have been something each of us could truly feel. The wealth of knowledge shared with us was stuff I’d never known before—suddenly, it felt like doors were opening one after another. At first, I was just passively accepting all of this. But after the entire afternoon’s sessions were over and I took a moment to sort through my thoughts, I realized: This is actually the company’s core algorithm!”
The new employee training is just one snapshot of the many learning opportunities offered by Zhengda Machinery & Electronics. In the adjacent CD room, on the evening of January 22, President Wang Zhenghu delivered a training session titled “Organizational Structure and Role Transition—Assembling the Team, Defining the Strategy, Leading the Team,” aimed at core general managers and potential successors. On the afternoon of January 24, a learning-sharing session for general managers—including a presentation on the Zhongye Da visit led by General Manager Lin Yi—as well as President Wang Zhenghu’s thematic sharing from his studies in Central Europe, focusing on “The Three Key Tools for Organizational Development—Recruitment, Training, and Performance Evaluation”—were held. That same evening, all participants in the succession-planning program and newly appointed general managers attended a specialized training session and exam on financial knowledge.
2018 was the company’s “Year of Talent,” and 2019 has already been clearly designated as another “Year of Talent.” My future is in my own hands; our shared future is ours to build together. Zhengda Machinery sincerely invites every ambitious individual with dreams to join us, to talk about win-win collaboration and co-create the future.

    II. Fun Sports Games Section

I exercise, I stay healthy; I’m healthy, I’m happy. To promote the company’s culture of wellness and to reward all colleagues at Zhengda Machinery & Electronics for their hard work over the past year, allowing everyone to celebrate the Lunar New Year with joy and enthusiasm, while also enhancing the overall soft power of the entire campus, we held the 6th Sports Meet at Zero One Science and Technology Park on the afternoon of January 25th. The event was themed “Upholding the Spirit of Sports, Showcasing Youthful Vigor”—a relaxed and fun gathering for all participants.
First up is the “Fun Sports” event, in which all participants get moving! For individual activities, there’s simple and easy-to-play rope skipping, shuttlecock kicking, and stair climbing; the popular basketball shooting game; the bicycle-paced ride—a challenge to patience and skill; “One-Win-All,” designed to loosen muscles, strengthen bones, and promote longevity and health; and the freshly introduced “Fun Bowling.” As for team activities, there’s the collaborative balloon-blowing game, the three-person four-legged race, and dart-throwing competitions—all requiring close teamwork and coordination.
Next, the competition for first, second, and third places in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament—previously featuring elimination rounds—was held. Guided by the principle of “friendship first, competition second,” the teams engaged in friendly exchanges, fiercely competing against each other with intense rivalry. In particular, Team 1 and Team 2, composed of Siemens Foshan Office, Siemens Motor Division, and Zhengyi Automation, captured the attention and hearts of company leaders and numerous colleagues alike. Shouts of encouragement, cheers, and applause rose one after another, earning round after round of enthusiastic applause. In the end, Team 1 and Team 2 unsurprisingly took first and second place, respectively, while colleagues from the Jiangxi Chamber of Commerce secured third place thanks to their outstanding performance.
Next, the highly anticipated plank challenge took place—a highlight of the annual sports event. This year, our colleagues demonstrated even greater skill and prowess. In the over-35 age group, Xiong Kaibin from the park directly broke the record set last year by one of our colleagues, setting a new personal best with a time of 14 minutes and 25 seconds. Zhou Yue from Changsha Zero One Industry secured second place with a standard posture and remarkable perseverance, just five seconds behind the winner. Particularly noteworthy is that in the under-35 age group, Chen Runbing from Zhengyi Automation delivered an outstanding performance, setting a new women’s record of 8 minutes and 10 seconds in the plank challenge.
The final event was a showdown of strength and a showcase of team spirit. After fierce competition among the eight teams, Siemens Motor Division took first place, Zhengda Mechanical & Electrical came in second, and the Changsha-Xi'an United Team placed third.
Amid the sound of awards being presented, this sports event came to a perfect close. Success stems from consistent daily effort—this holds true for health just as much as it does for happiness.

III. Annual Summary Conference and Award Ceremony Section

Looking back at 2018, thanks to the concerted efforts of all Zhengda employees, the company’s various operations achieved comprehensive and steady progress. At the start of the year-end meeting, after Zhang Junjing, Manager of the Company’s Investment and Development Department, delivered the opening remarks, General Manager Lin Yi gave a keynote speech titled “Walking Together in 2019.”
First, Mr. Lin reviewed ZeroOne Industry’s overall sales and performance in 2018. Following that, he highlighted ZeroOne Industry’s efforts in 2018—the “Year of Talent”—including its investments in, training of, and optimization for talent. He also outlined the strategic direction: focusing on Siemens products as the core of its industrial product agency, increasing investment in Xi’an Zhengyi Long, and phasing out the Zhongde and Wuxi companies. Subsequently, Mr. Lin looked ahead to “Walking Together in 2019” from three perspectives: strategic advancement, talent development and succession planning, and system building. Finally, Mr. Lin concluded his speech with a quote from General Secretary Xi: “We are all dream chasers, and together we must keep striving and fighting!”—a message intended to inspire and encourage everyone.
Next, Ouyang Gui’an, Deputy General Manager of the Bearing Company, delivered a work report covering four key areas: sales performance, market strategy, financial results, and talent development and corporate culture. Based on a strategy focused on the core SKF brand business, the Bearing Company has continuously integrated market resources and restructured its internal operations, resulting in a significant increase in per capita sales, the successful achievement of its annual sales targets, and exceeding its profit targets. Looking ahead to 2019, the Bearing Company will strengthen management, integrate resources, and adjust its strategies, aiming to deliver even better performance.
The year 2018 marked the beginning of a new chapter for Charoen Pokphand. Under the company’s three-year strategic plan, President Wang’s nine key guidelines, and the highly effective execution by all employees, Charoen Pokphand Mechatronics successfully achieved its various performance targets. To inspire and recognize outstanding achievements, Wang Weimei, Deputy General Manager of the Siemens Motor Division at Zero One Industrial; Hu Qiuyuan, Deputy General Manager of Charoen Pokphand Automation; and Li Zeyun, Assistant to the General Manager of Dongguan Dasheng, were each invited to share their experiences as representatives of exemplary departments.
“New Era, New Atmosphere, New Achievements”—in 2018, the company launched two new business lines: Chengpu Finance and Zhengneng Automobile. At the meeting, the general managers of these two new divisions delivered summaries of their 2018 performance and shared their outlook for 2019. Yang Jianhua, General Manager of Chengpu Finance, summarized the company’s development journey—from establishing systems and building a team to achieving business results—and provided an overview of Chengpu Finance’s work in 2018. Looking ahead to 2019, Chengpu Finance will remain committed to specialized operations, strengthen team building, and go all out to achieve its business targets for the coming year. Following that, Wang Tianwei, General Manager of Zhengneng New Energy Automobile Company, presented a report on the company’s 2018 performance. In contrast to the negative growth in China’s automotive industry sales in 2018, new-energy vehicle production and sales showed vibrant growth. We believe that in 2019, the new-energy vehicle market will continue to maintain rapid growth, and Zhengneng Automobile has a promising future.
Next, Lei Yuqiang, Director of the Human Resources Department at Zhengda Machinery & Electronics, delivered a summary of the 2018 Talent Year and outlined the outlook for 2019. Based on the talent strategy aligned with its three major business segments—real estate, industry, and finance—Zhengda stepped up its investment in talent recruitment and development in 2018. Taking Zero One Industry as the flagship, Zhengda leveraged its HR initiatives to drive the overall development of HR practices across the entire company system. In line with the company’s “Talent Year” strategic plan, Zhengda intensified efforts to nurture and train its existing employees. Company leaders set an exemplary standard by devoting significant energy to employee development, yielding remarkable results. Looking ahead to 2019, Zhengda will continue to deepen and optimize its talent strategy, establish a talent competency model, further implement the succession planning program, and refine and enhance the executive accountability system.
Finally, President Wang Zhenghu delivered a keynote speech titled “The Times Inspire Us to Forge Ahead; Our Mission Motivates Us to Keep Moving Forward,” summarizing the past year of 2018 from three perspectives: personal self-improvement, the company’s pioneering development, and the nation’s four decades of reform and opening-up. First, he reviewed CPME’s strategic guidance, industry selection, talent development, and market management in 2018, expressing appreciation and gratitude toward the executives, employees, and all sectors of society who have weathered both good times and tough challenges alongside the company. Looking ahead to the next 20 years, the company will adjust its strategic direction and break through developmental bottlenecks by focusing on nine key areas—strategy, culture, talent, markets, finance, platforms, R&D, corporate social responsibility, and execution—to enhance enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity. All functional departments and business teams within the company will continue to pursue steady growth amid dynamism and strive for development within a framework of stability.
Next, leaders at all levels of the company held a grand awards ceremony to honor teams that had overachieved their targets, star-rated general managers, and outstanding new employees. At the same time, the company renewed the 2019 business responsibility agreements with each business division. Upholding the company’s four core values—integrity, professionalism, innovation, and win-win cooperation—we are confident that the commitments made by each business division will once again serve as a testament to their remarkable achievements. The successful launch in 2018 has opened yet another new chapter for Charoen Pokphand Group.

    V. Session on Successor Exchange Activities

How can a company ensure its enduring success and pass on the spirit and wisdom of its founders? One effective approach is to start grooming successors five to ten years—or even earlier—before they’re actually needed. The senior leadership team at Zhengda Machinery, led by President Wang Zhenghu, demonstrates foresight and strategic thinking, placing great emphasis on corporate succession and the development of new talent. As early as 2008, they launched a formal succession-planning program.
On the afternoon of January 27, immediately after last night’s year-end summary and gala dinner had concluded, the company held the first 2019 successor exchange event for Zhengda Machinery & Electronics at the International Conference Center on the fourth floor of Zero One Science and Technology Park. Attending this successor exchange event were a total of 18 leaders and successors, including Mr. Wang Zhenghu, President of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics; Mr. Lian Canhuan, General Manager of Siemens Motor Division; Mr. Yang Jianhua, General Manager of Chengpu Financial Services; and Mr. Dong Shiyi, Deputy General Manager of Zero One Industrial.
Lian Canhuan, General Manager of Siemens Motor Division—the first of the “Three Driving Forces” at ZeroOne Industrial—led everyone in a study of “The Three Key Tools for Organizational Development—Recruitment, Training, and Performance Evaluation.” Drawing on his own experience as a successor, General Manager Lian shared insights into how the Siemens Motor Division builds its organization, conducts recruitment, provides training, and carries out performance evaluations—explaining how the division achieves excellence and remains number one.
Following that, President Wang and General Lian explained to the successors how a manager leading a team should go about identifying and recruiting talent, conducting simulated training for new hires, and evaluating team performance. They emphasized: “Recruiting is all about finding business partners—just as challenging as finding a life partner—and it requires a great deal of meticulous effort. Simulated training should be conducted at 1.5 to 2.0 times the normal workload, and you should learn from those who are more skilled than yourself. As for performance evaluations, they must take into account both business-specific metrics and non-performance factors, tailored to each department’s unique business model. Moreover, we must stick firmly to the principle of bottom-ranking elimination: ‘Running water does not stagnate, and a door hinge remains smooth only if it’s regularly oiled.’ Only by consistently implementing this bottom-ranking elimination approach can we keep our team passionate and full of vitality.”
The exchange event lasted until 8 p.m., yet the participants still felt it wasn't long enough and are looking forward to learning even more experience and knowledge from the senior colleagues at Charoen Pokphand in the next event.

2018: Thank you for being with us; 2019: Zhengda is walking hand in hand with you—unafraid of the past, undaunted by the future!
