In response to the company’s three-year strategic plan and the need to build a learning organization, on October 6–7, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd. organized the 2018 National Day Training and Study Session, as well as the 2019 Business Planning Conference, at the International Conference Center on the 4th floor of Building 1 in Zero One Science and Technology Park. More than 100 people, including Wang Zhenghu, President of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics; Lei Yuqiang, Director of Human Resources; Lin Yi, General Manager of Zero One Industrial; personnel at or above the supervisor level; and directors of the Engineers Association, were invited to attend and participate in the meeting.
2019 Business Planning Meeting
On the morning of the 6th, General Lin led everyone in a brief review of ZeroOne Industry’s strategic achievements from January to September 2018, and provided guidance on formulating operational measures for 2019. He pointed out that this year, when developing their business plans, each unit should align with General Wang’s “369” strategic thinking and action guidelines, and translate these into concrete actions across various areas—including strategy, culture, talent development, marketing, finance, platforms, R&D, corporate social responsibility, and execution capability. Following that, General Lian Canhuan, General Peng Jinsong, and General You Rongzhu, representing Siemens Motor Division, Zhengyi Automation, and Dasheng Automation respectively—the “three driving forces”—each delivered a sharing presentation.
In the afternoon of the 6th, with the exception of the entire Engineering Association members who formed their own group, other attendees were divided into three groups according to their job levels: senior management, executive assistants to managers, and deputy general managers. Each group focused on different aspects of the 2019 business plan, discussing feasible measures for achieving the set goals and developing talent strategies. The summary of the first group’s discussion stated: “The missions that each individual shoulders at different stages and the standards by which they are defined as talent vary. As long as employees keep learning continuously and demonstrate good learning abilities, they will be able to stay with the company and move forward together.”
2018 National Day Training and Study
Success stems from “70% practice + 20% communication + 10% theory.” Learn first, then share; communicate first, then put it into practice.
2018 was designated as the “Year of Talent,” and various organizations launched a series of initiatives and explorations centered around talent management. On the morning of the 7th, several representative units—including Siemens Motor Division, Zhengyi Automation, Dasheng Automation, Changsha Zero One, and the Shunde Branch—shared their experiences from different perspectives: talent retention, training and development, talent recruitment, industry talent identification, and attracting and retaining top talent. It truly was a scene of “a hundred flowers blooming and a hundred schools of thought contending,” with each organization showcasing its own unique strengths. Following the presentations, General Manager Lin offered his insightful commentary, drawing on Zero One Industrial’s overall situation and emphasizing three key words: “Spend Time.” The more time you’re willing to invest in your team, the greater the rewards you’ll reap—and only then can your team become truly strong. Although this year is officially declared the “Year of Talent,” our discussions here today shouldn’t be merely a one-time event. We must sustain this effort over the long term. Finally, I’d like to urge every team—and especially all of you leaders who are responsible for guiding others—to genuinely devote time and effort to nurturing your subordinates. Don’t just get excited during meetings; if you don’t follow through with concrete actions afterward, we won’t see many outstanding teams emerge.
The “The Harder You Work, the Luckier You’ll Be” themed training meticulously crafted by General Manager Wang has greatly benefited 40 participants and 16 teaching assistants. In particular, the Six-Step Improvement approach—a methodology imbued with practical value—was explored in depth, focusing on how to progressively advance it, expand its impact, and support the realization of our three-year strategic plan. On the afternoon of the 7th, each group engaged in thorough exchanges and in-depth discussions on this very topic. Meanwhile, General Manager Wang shared with senior company executives and heads of enterprises in the park his insights and learnings from the nearly two-month program at CEIBS, titled “Corporate Governance and Succession.” He noted that the 298,000-yuan, 15-day course had yielded substantial gains; all the instructors were professors from relevant fields, and much of what he learned during this program aligns closely with the company’s current “369” initiative—something we’ve actually been practicing all along. Following that, he provided detailed explanations centered around two modules already covered: breaking through the challenges faced by traditional enterprises and creating value for enterprise growth.
On the evening of the 7th, after listening to the report on the achievements of the Engineers’ Council, the company arranged for colleagues who had recently gone on field trips and training sessions to share their experiences. First, Mai Zhiting, Assistant General Manager of Zero One Industry, gave a presentation on PLM-related topics. Next, General Manager Lei and General Manager Lin shared their respective insights and takeaways from their studies at Tsinghua University. Then, General Manager Peng shared his impressions and reflections from his visit to CEIBS. Finally, General Manager Wang, drawing on the “Six Principles of Perfection,” spoke about his experiences in business school and the Year of Talent Development. He pointed out that during weekends at CEIBS, classrooms are always full. He emphasized that mindset determines behavior, behavior shapes habits, and habits ultimately dictate outcomes. Reading has become a habit for him, but he feels it’s still not enough, so he’s committed to continuing his studies with no less effort than anyone else. Furthermore, reflecting on his own journey of learning and growth, he elaborated in detail on how he chose the right courses, how he selected his business school, and the elite individuals he met during his studies—along with the exchanges and experiences he had with them. He advised everyone to seek out more opportunities for learning and suggested that some senior executives might consider pursuing a systematic EMBA program. He also urged all departments to actively pursue major clients and invest even in smaller ones. The economic landscape undergoes small cycles every three to five years, followed by minor reshuffles, and major reshuffles occur roughly every ten years. Each reshuffle presents an opportunity for outstanding companies to become even more exceptional—and he expressed his hope that everyone present here will continue to strive for ever greater excellence.
Amid grateful applause, the 2018 National Day training and study session, as well as the 2019 business planning meeting, of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd. came to a successful conclusion.
