To gain a deeper understanding of the spirit behind the “Eight Key Points” speech, to study and draw on the practical experiences of benchmark organizations, and to inspire all units to further deepen their comprehension, implementation, and execution, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd. organized the 2018 Mid-Year Summary Conference from July 19 to 22 at the International Conference Center on the 4th floor of Building 1 in Zero One Science and Technology Park. More than 80 people attended the conference, including President Wang Zhenghu, General Manager Lin Yi of Zero One Industrial Company, heads of various subsidiaries, business divisions, and functional departments, as well as key business personnel and directors of the Engineers Association.

The “Eight Key Principles” have been incorporated into the revision and preparation of the Employee Handbook. To assess everyone’s learning outcomes and gather more ideas and suggestions for further improvement, a study exam on the Employee Handbook was conducted on the evening of July 19. The exam focused primarily on the “Eight Key Principles” and the company’s corporate culture. Meanwhile, General Manager Lin and General Manager Wang were invited to provide preliminary interpretations and engage in interactive discussions with the participants. General Manager Lin emphasized that cultural inheritance is an essential component of corporate development. The Employee Handbook, which was personally spearheaded and completed by General Manager Wang at the end of the first quarter, vividly reflects the company’s strategic development journey over the past 21 years and encapsulates its core cultural values. Building on this foundation, the company has also revamped its onboarding training system for new employees, with course content firmly rooted in the company’s culture and ideological heritage. Regarding the “3+6” framework and the company’s core values, it’s crucial for everyone to understand not only the hard work and dedication behind these words but also how they can be seamlessly integrated into our daily actions and behaviors. General Manager Wang highlighted two key objectives of this meeting: First, he hopes that all participants will gain meaningful insights and leave the meeting with a clearer understanding of how they can further improve and enhance their work going forward; second, he looks forward to ensuring that the content and services provided at this meeting will inspire everyone to eagerly anticipate next year’s gathering.

On the morning of July 20, General Manager Lin Yi and Director Lei Yuqiang, representing Zero One Industrial Co., Ltd. and Zhengda Machinery & Electrical Co., Ltd. respectively, reviewed and shared their experiences regarding the implementation of the “Eight Principles.” Following that, General Manager Wang delivered a speech titled “Pursuing a Perfect Life in the Process of Realizing the Chinese Dream,” focusing on the essence of Kazuo Inamori’s “3+6” philosophy and analyzing it in light of his own personal experiences and the company’s development. He stated: “The ‘three qualifications’—character, courage, and capability—are the foundation and prerequisite; while the ‘six advancements’—making efforts no less than anyone else, staying humble and avoiding impatience, engaging in daily self-reflection, being grateful for life, practicing kindness and accumulating virtue, and letting go of the troubles caused by emotions—are the methodological approach. All our current efforts are laying the groundwork for the next 10 or 20 years. Don’t think that if you memorize something today, you’ll become a multimillionaire tomorrow—success comes from accumulation.” In the afternoon and evening of July 20, participants engaged in thorough discussions and learning through small-group sessions and free exchanges, benchmarking against Zhengda Machinery & Electrical Co., Ltd. and Zero One Industrial Co., Ltd. On the morning of July 21, participants selected two to three pre-defined topics—such as how to build a talent pipeline, explore market development trends, and discuss industry evolution—and conducted horizontal exchanges around these topics.

On the afternoon of July 21, Yan Shenghui, Assistant to the General Manager of Lingyi Industrial Company, delivered a report on industry data analysis. All attendees were delighted to gain a wealth of valuable insights. Meanwhile, the boards of directors of the three major subsidiaries under Zhengda Machinery & Electrical Company were also holding intensive meetings.

At 3:40 p.m. on the 21st, the exciting "24-Point Poker Card PK Competition" interactive game brought the mid-year meeting to a thrilling climax. After nearly two hours of intense competition, Tan Yingzhao from the Mechanical Transmission Division won first prize—a cash reward of 1,000 yuan. Li Jikun from the Siemens Motor Division and Lin Guanjin from Dongguan Dazheng both took second place, each receiving a cash reward of 500 yuan. Hu Junhong from Sino-German Automation, Zheng Zhihui from the Logistics Center, and Xu Rongming from Weishengda all won third prize, each earning a cash reward of 300 yuan. This game remarkably stimulates the coordinated activity of multiple senses—eyes, brain, hands, mouth, and ears—and is highly beneficial for developing our quick mental arithmetic skills and reaction abilities. At the same time, it’s intended to encourage everyone to apply this method in raising and educating their children. As planned, at the end of the game, General Manager Wang specially arranged a head-to-head showdown between himself and the top two winners. The clash between these seasoned players was truly extraordinary; the heated competition lasted nearly an hour, during which the watching colleagues couldn’t help but nod in agreement, cheer enthusiastically, and burst into exclamations one after another. Even Hou Ting from the Finance Department couldn’t resist saying, “They don’t even need to look—they could just snap their fingers!” Later, out of curiosity, we couldn’t help but ask Tan Yingzhao, “What’s your brain made of? How can you be so amazing?” He laughed and replied, “I started playing this game back in elementary school.” That casually spoken remark suddenly made everything clear: his success today wasn’t the result of yesterday’s practice—it had begun much earlier, with over 30 years of accumulated experience. This resonated perfectly with General Manager Wang’s sharing and summary on the morning of the 20th.

In the evening, we were honored to invite Cai Lingbo, Senior Partner at Yingke (Foshan) Law Firm in Beijing, to deliver a lecture on “Risk Management.” Nearly 200 employees from our company attended the session. Drawing on legal regulations and rich real-world case studies, Attorney Cai took the company’s core business as the starting point and used the transaction process of a single deal as the main thread to explain in detail the specific points that need attention at each stage, as well as strategies for effectively mitigating risks and ensuring that interests are properly protected. We also take this opportunity to encourage everyone to share what they’ve learned from this session—and from the recent “Personal Risk Awareness Training”—with as many people around them as possible, so as to help prevent losses and negative impacts caused by predatory lending schemes and other malicious activities.

On the morning of July 22, representatives from Foshan Bearing, Youlifu, Zhongde Automation, the Changsha Branch, and the Engineers Association took turns sharing their learning insights and subsequent improvement measures. After listening to the reports, General Manager Wang pointed out: “Don’t get caught up in whether the ‘chicken’ came first or the ‘egg.’ Just start doing things—only by taking action can you possibly achieve results. A single thought can turn ‘greed’ into ‘poverty.’ You can’t simply copy what others are doing; each organization is at a different stage of development, so its priorities should also differ. Embrace the wisdom of ‘half a glass of water’: when working, focus on the empty half, constantly strive for progress and self-improvement; in life, pay attention to the water that’s already there, learn to let go of the troubles brought on by emotions, and never harbor negative energy at any time. As the saying goes, set high standards at work but keep your personal standards low. Great people are both rough and refined, equally skilled in both literary and martial arts, and highly attentive to details. We must be people who put what we learn into practice. As Zen Buddhism teaches, ‘Believing in Buddhism starts with small, everyday actions.’ Happiness is earned through hard work; we must stay true to our original aspirations and pursue a life of perfection. Let us build a century-old enterprise that respects heaven, loves humanity, and benefits others.”

As the meeting was drawing to a close, after soliciting feedback from the participants, General Manager Wang clearly instructed that the “3+6” framework and the eight key principles be upgraded to “3, 6, 9,” designating them as the strategic guiding principles and action roadmap for Zhengda Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd.

As Mo Yan writes in "Red Sorghum," “One-four-seven, three-six-nine, nine-nine returns to one—follow me.” Learn, digest, absorb, and put into practice; then learn again and practice once more. Unify our thinking and keep improving. I look forward to seeing the tangible results of each unit’s efforts at the year-end conference.
