To enhance communication among everyone, strengthen team spirit, and build resilience, the company organized a hiking and team-building activity for the 2013 and 2014 graduates to Honghua Lake in Huizhou on July 19, 2014, as part of the second-phase development program for the Class of 2014 graduates. Honghua Lake is the source of living water for West Lake in Huizhou and is home to the ancient “Water Curtain Falls,” one of the Eight Scenic Spots of West Lake in Huizhou. It’s situated on the northwest side of Honghua Peak, the highest peak in the surrounding mountains, hence its name—Honghua Lake, after Honghua Peak. The green trail encircling the lake stretches a total of 18 kilometers, with markers placed every kilometer, providing those walking around the lake with a very clear sense of direction and purpose.
At 7:30 a.m., everyone boarded the bus and set off, taking about three hours to reach the destination. This was a hiking competition, and all participants were divided into five teams. Each team had to complete the 18-kilometer course simultaneously, arriving at the finish line together. After forming the teams, everyone changed into their “battle gear” and began sprinting toward the 18-kilometer mark. At first, everyone’s pace resembled a rapid march; as energy gradually depleted, however, their steps slowed down accordingly. At every kilometer marker—0 km, 1 km, 2 km...—team members felt renewed motivation with each kilometer they passed, reminding themselves that they’d already covered another mile. “Is it tough? Just think of the Long March’s 25,000 li—perseverance means victory!” With this belief firmly in mind, after replenishing their energy along the way, everyone bounced back with renewed vigor and pressed on toward the 18-kilometer mark. Throughout the entire hike, team members chatted and laughed happily. Male team members willingly carried belongings for their female teammates, and those in better physical shape proactively shared the “heavy load” with those who were carrying more. All of them were united by one common dream: reaching the 18-kilometer finish line. In the end, Team Four was the first to cross the finish line. After three and a half hours, all team members successfully reached the goal, bringing the 18-kilometer hiking competition to a perfect conclusion.
Through this event, everyone not only got a good workout but also improved communication with one another and strengthened team cohesion. Moving forward, the company will continue to organize similar activities, enabling everyone to better dedicate themselves to their work.
