From March 3 to 13, a delegation of four members—including Wang Zhenghu, President of Foshan Zhengda Machinery & Electrical (Group); Lin Yi, General Manager of Guangdong Lingyi Industrial Co., Ltd.; Lu Zaiqing, General Manager of the Shunde Branch; and Sun Honglei, Deputy Director of the Group’s Investment Department—visited and conducted an inspection tour in the United States. During the 10-day trip, President Wang Zhenghu led the team to visit the triennial Las Vegas International Hydraulics & Transmission Exhibition and the International Construction Equipment Exhibition, and also examined the development status of related industries in the Greater Los Angeles area. During the 10-day trip, President Wang Zhenghu led the team to visit the triennial International Hydraulic Transmission & Construction Machinery Exhibition in Las Vegas, as well as to examine the development status of related industries in the Greater Los Angeles area.
The Las Vegas International Hydraulics & Transmission Expo and the International Construction Equipment Expo, which we visited this time, are among the largest trade shows of their kind in the world. The exhibitions cover an area of 1.95 million square meters and attract more than 2,400 exhibitors. Leading companies from around the globe in these industries have all sent out extensive exhibition delegations—for example, Caterpillar, Komatsu, JCB, CASE, and Hyundai in the construction equipment sector; Cummins, CAT, Detroit Diesel, and MTU in the engine industry; Atlas Copco and Sullair in the air compressor sector; and SKF in the bearing industry. Moreover, China’s XCMG, LiuGong, Zoomlion, and Sany Heavy Industry have also dispatched sizable teams to participate in the expos. During our visit, we learned that nearly all major, well-known companies have established factories, branches, or offices in China. This clearly demonstrates that China has become the world’s second-largest market—second only to the United States—and is rapidly catching up with the world’s leading economic power.
After visiting the Las Vegas trade show, President Wang Zhenghu and his delegation traveled to Los Angeles, where they engaged in in-depth discussions with industry veterans, including Domingo Penaloza (Lu Tianmin), the founder of the renowned bearing brand UBC.
Afterward, everyone toured the Greater Los Angeles area—a metropolitan region with a population of 28 million and comprising dozens of satellite cities—and visited famous attractions such as the gem-like Palm Springs. In the Los Angeles area, more than one million Chinese people have already settled, and the numerous Chinese communities and authentic Chinese restaurants give visitors the distinct feeling of still being in China. At the same time, the area’s high degree of internationalization and the Americans’ hardworking spirit are also keenly felt by all—no matter whether it’s 11 p.m. or 6 a.m., the city’s main thoroughfares remain bustling with traffic.
Through this trip, everyone gained a deep appreciation for authentic American culture and the country’s robust economic foundation. The highways and dams built by the U.S. a century ago are still fully functional today and remain remarkably modern. Moreover, the heartfelt passion that American professionals bring to their work, their strong service orientation, and their spontaneous diligence left a profound impression on all of us. As a result, we’ve come to recognize even more clearly the immense room for growth and development within our company, and we’ve become even more determined that only through relentless effort can we catch up with and surpass the world’s leading standards.
