On February 20-21, 2014, the SKF Industrial Market Regional Sales and Service China Distributor Conference was held in Chengdu. Also in attendance were Shi Hao, General Manager of Foshan Zhengda Mechanical & Electrical Bearing Co., Ltd.; Ouyang Gui'an, Deputy General Manager; Ruan Jiyong, Assistant to the General Manager; Qiu Jianwei, Manager; and Feng Qingchong, Manager, who were invited to the conference.
The theme of this SKF Dealer Conference is “Value? Innovation.” Faced with an increasingly competitive market environment, SKF—leader in the bearing industry—is actively exploring a path of transformation, aiming to shift from being merely a traditional manufacturer and supplier of products to becoming a strategic partner that can offer customers more valuable services. The purpose of this conference is to share SKF’s strategic insights into the market and its concept of “value-based selling” with dealers, enabling them to not only boost their own business development but also bring high-value-added services and products to their customers, thus achieving win-win outcomes for all parties involved. Our company’s efforts in this regard have been recognized by SKF, and we have been honored with the “SKF Regional and Service Value-Added Services Award.”
Wanda Lian, President of Sales and Services for SKF’s Industrial Markets Region, stated: “It is of great significance for distributors to achieve differentiation through value-based selling. Price will never be the key to achieving value differentiation; rather, distributors must demonstrate to their customers that they can provide value-added solutions and help customers reduce their overall operating costs more effectively than other suppliers. In the face of intense competition, profit margins from product sales are shrinking ever further, making value-based selling strategies particularly important.”
Fu Jinyan, President of SKF Regional Sales and Service China, provided a detailed overview of SKF’s development strategy and new business model for the China region over the coming years. He pointed out: “The market has reached a new turning point—a historic opportunity presented to us. Currently, the market is characterized by slower growth rates, increasingly fierce competition, and ever-higher expectations from customers regarding both products and services. Under these new circumstances, for knowledge-based enterprises like SKF, the market isn’t shrinking—it’s simply undergoing transformation. SKF’s distributors should recognize these changes as opening up new business opportunities. SKF and its distributors need to collaborate closely, strengthen integration at both the strategic planning and execution levels, compete in the market by focusing on reducing customers’ total operating costs, enhancing economic efficiency, and achieving sustainable and profitable business growth.”
In his speech, Xi Minghai, Director of Channel Development for SKF’s Regional Sales and Service China, outlined his vision for the development of regional sales and service channels in China’s industrial market. He said, “We are striving to build a world-class dealer network in China. From cultivating foundational capabilities to maturing our business model architecture, this journey relies on close collaboration between SKF and our dealers. SKF will continue to provide dealers with robust support—from policy formulation to specific sales activities. At the same time, SKF will also strengthen its assessment and management of dealers, aiming to create a powerful and resilient dealer network.”
During the two-day conference, SKF and its distributors also discussed topics such as industry management and development, key account management, new customer acquisition, sales efficiency, and logistics management. Distributors responded enthusiastically to the conference, believing that SKF’s value-based sales philosophy will effectively help us maintain our competitiveness in the fiercely competitive market.
