In the golden autumn of October, I head to Yangzhou, then shift gears to Shanghai to settle the score.

From October 13 to 20, 2022, Zhengda Machinery & Electronics meticulously organized and held the third-quarter summary meeting and a series of events celebrating its 25th anniversary at several venues in Yangzhou, Suzhou, and Shanghai, employing various formats. The event consisted of five main components: a strategic planning conference, a visit to Zhenkunxing, the quarterly general meeting, an evening cruise along the Huangpu River, and training sessions for the “Gezhi & Senior Manager Class” and the “Reserve Manager Class.”

Boldly envision, carefully verify—A thoughtful and speculative meeting.

From October 13 to 15, Wang Zhenghu, President of Foshan Zhengda Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd., and Lin Yi, General Manager of Guangdong Lingyi Industrial Technology Co., Ltd., led more than 30 members of the company’s management team to hold a "Defining Strategy, Building Teams, and Leading the Team" retreat at the picturesque Yangzhou Yingbin Hotel. At this conference, heads of various departments presented detailed visions and strategic plans for the company’s long-term development, providing valuable guidance for its future path.

Before the meeting, General Manager Wang led a group of managers to visit Siemens’ Suzhou factory to enhance communication and gain insights into the latest products and future plans.

During the meeting, General Manager Lin shared his insights from the Siemens Nanjing Distributor Conference, acknowledged ZeroOne’s achievements over the past year, and emphasized that we should identify gaps by benchmarking against top industry peers. He also highlighted the importance of focusing on talent development, platform growth, and cultural promotion to drive business expansion.

The Marketing Department, Finance Department, and Human Resources Department each submitted proposals on gratitude and appreciation, refined management, and employee benefits, respectively, to provide strong support for business operations.

General Manager Wang outlined new ideas for sustained future growth and called for the establishment of a collaborative, action-oriented mechanism—spanning areas from management upgrades to talent development—to ensure effective implementation. He also answered questions from various business units on-site, jointly looking forward to the future.

Learn from the Advanced and Identify Gaps—A Visit to Zhenkunxing

At noon on the 16th, more than 80 attendees gathered at Zhenkunxing. The first thing that caught everyone’s eye was the meticulously arranged exhibition booth. The warm and welcoming reception made everyone feel right at home, reflecting the professionalism of the host staff as well as the company’s enthusiastic atmosphere. Following a detailed briefing by Zhenkunxing’s dedicated representatives, the participants gained valuable insights into Zhenkunxing’s business philosophy, market strategy, and the application of digital and intelligent technologies—experiencing significant benefits from the session.

The power of role models is limitless—Quarterly General Meeting

On the morning of October 17, after warming up together, the leaders and colleagues attending this quarterly meeting started their morning run around the hotel at 6:30 a.m.

(1) Quarterly General Meeting Section

The quarterly conference will be held on October 16-17. At exactly 2:00 p.m. on the 16th, the first half of the 2022 quarterly conference officially began. Attending the conference were general managers and heads of all subsidiaries under Zhengda Machinery & Electronics, participants of the Gezhi & Senior Manager Program, participants of the Reserve Manager Program, heads of functional departments at headquarters, and other key staff members.

Amid warm applause, Lin Yi, General Manager of Zero One Industry, took the stage first. In his summary of the company’s performance from January to September, General Manager Lin expressed full recognition for the teams and departments that had exceeded their targets. He also provided an overview of Zero One Industry’s current development status and future challenges, and outlined the 2023 goals as well as plans and measures for achieving targeted performance growth.

Next, Lei Yuqiang, Director of the Human Resources Department at Zhengda Machinery & Electronics, presented a report on the outcomes of the brainstorming meeting held from October 13 to 15. The brainstorming meeting set forth the company’s new strategic goals for the future, ensuring its sustainable development. At the same time, it also established policies aimed at enhancing employee benefits, thereby providing strong support for our company’s ongoing efforts to attract, hire, and develop talent.

Next, Four outstanding young key members from various business units will deliver themed presentations. The attendees included Hong Jianwu, Sales Manager of Dongguan Dasheng Automation Equipment Co., Ltd.; Li Deyi, Deputy Sales Manager of Foshan Zhengyi Automation Equipment Co., Ltd.; Li Jikun, Sales Manager of the Siemens Motor Division at Lingyi Industrial; and Zuo Siliang, Sales Manager of Chengdu Nengda Technology Co., Ltd. Each representative shared, in turn, information on their work performance during the first half of 2022, team building efforts, refined team management practices, and future plans. The development of an enterprise is inseparable from the growth of its team; the growth of the team, in turn, depends on the hard work and relentless pursuit of progress by each and every member. “Read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles.” Hu Qiuyuan, Deputy General Manager of Zhengyi Automation, shared his experiences of a low-key yet luxurious trip to Xi'an and a disciplined, health-focused journey to Mount Hua. The T3 Terminal at Baiyun Airport, the W Hotel in Xi'an, and the Hyatt Hotel—where history and culture seamlessly blend with contemporary trends—offer the ultimate indulgence in life. Climbing Canglong Ridge, one of Mount Hua’s three most perilous trails, President Wang ascended to the highest point on North Peak, personally demonstrating and imparting to everyone the philosophy of self-discipline, health, and joyful living.

The innovative segment of the conference—led by President Wang Zhenghu and General Manager Lin—demonstrated healthy and happy lifestyle habits to everyone. General Manager Lin patiently showed everyone stretching exercises, including forward bends and hand stretches. Arm stretches... Everyone was enthusiastically trying their best to imitate the movements. General Wang demonstrated an incredibly energetic set of health exercises. Transforming himself into the “Liu Genghong” of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics, General Wang led the group in the exercises while explaining each movement, bringing the entire atmosphere to a fever pitch.

The highlight of the meeting on the 16th was Yu Rongzhu, General Manager of Dongguan Dasheng. General Manager Yu introduced the “Four No’s”—no assumptions, no certainties, no stubbornness, and no ego—to emphasize the importance of breaking down barriers in perception, thinking, and mindset, and striving to work happily. At 9:00 a.m. on the 17th, the second half of the quarterly conference officially began. The first speaker was Hu Qiuyuan, Deputy General Manager of Zhengyi Automation. Mr. Hu shared with everyone that since 2007, Zhengyi Automation has spent 15 years officially joining Siemens’ Platinum Club and continues to forge ahead with relentless effort toward new goals.

Next, Lin Chubo, Deputy General Manager of the Siemens Division at ZeroOne Industry, delivered a report on the 2022 work summary and future development plan on behalf of the Siemens Division.

Next up is the highlight of today’s quarterly meeting—the company is honored to have invited Mr. Chen Long, Chairman and CEO of Zhenkunxing Industrial Supermarket (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., to share his expertise on the HES Expert Excellence System. The conference emphasized that every company must establish lean management and continuous improvement mechanisms, leveraging appropriate tools to enhance operational efficiency and reduce operating costs. At the same time, company leaders should capitalize on the strengths of their subordinates, focus on what truly matters, and make rational use of the principle: “Embrace their weaknesses while harnessing their strengths.”

In the second half of the meeting, Wang Yijian, General Manager of Chengdu Nengda, first shared the criteria for selecting personnel and outlined how to build a team with strong cohesion, enabling both himself and his team members to achieve well-rounded development.

Finally, Wang Zhenghu, President of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics, delivered a keynote presentation. President Wang began by recognizing and summarizing the outstanding representatives who participated in the quarterly meeting and their insightful contributions.

Next, President Wang thanked Chairman Chen Long for providing us with this valuable learning journey to Zhenkunxing and for personally sharing his wealth of experience with us. This broadened the horizons of all the colleagues in attendance and encouraged everyone to associate with those who are better than themselves and to cultivate a sense of gratitude. On the afternoon of October 17, the participants were divided into three breakout sessions and engaged in discussions around three themes: “The Significance and Purpose of the Meeting,” “Envisioning the Future,” and “How to Lead a Team Effectively.” During the meeting, members in each session brainstormed, unleashed their creativity, and looked forward to the future.

The mighty Yangtze River flows endlessly—A Night Cruise on the Huangpu River

At 6 p.m., as night falls and the lights along the Huangpu River begin to glow, the river’s nighttime scenery beautifully complements the dazzling lights lining both banks. Members of the Zhengda Machinery & Electronics delegation and other attendees boarded a cruise ship at the Shiliupu Wharf, fully enjoying the enchanting spectacle created by the interplay of radiant lights and the mesmerizing night view of the Huangpu River.

The cruise ship glides slowly along the river, offering breathtaking views not only of Shanghai’s “Four Great Skyscrapers” along Lujiazui in Pudong, the Bund, and the World Expo Architecture Complex, but also allowing you to get up close to iconic structures within the Expo Park, such as the China Art Palace and the Mercedes-Benz Arena. You’ll be treated to stunning night views of the riverside districts of Yangpu, Hongkou, Pudong, and Huangpu.

Enjoy the beauty of the scenery and savor delicious cuisine together. On board a cruise ship along the Huangpu River, everyone was welcomed to a sumptuous gala dinner. At the start of the dinner, leaders from the new Board of Directors of Zero One Industry each delivered speeches and offered their heartfelt wishes, collectively wishing that Zhengda Machinery & Electronics would continue to thrive and achieve even greater success. They also expressed their hope that all Zhengda employees would unite in solidarity, work diligently together, and write a new chapter of development.

During this evening tour, President Wang personally funded an invitation for his middle-school homeroom teacher and her family, as well as his elderly relatives, to jointly enjoy the dazzling beauty of Shanghai. Since graduating, President Wang has maintained close contact with his teacher, sustaining a bond between teacher and student that has lasted nearly 40 years. Through his own actions, President Wang has perfectly embodied the company’s “gratitude” culture and set an exemplary role model for all employees of Zhengda.

Accelerated Growth—Talent Development Program for Succession Planning

On October 19, Xiang Gegaoban, General Manager of Lingyi Industrial Lin Yi, delivered a lecture titled “Talent Profiling” to the students of the Gegaoban program. The lecture covered topics such as job requirements for talent profiles, competency models, the iceberg model, and empathy. Sufficient time was also reserved for group discussions among the participants. Senior managers from the Gegaoban program invited students from the Gezhiban program to join various groups, enabling them to learn from each other and offer mutual advice. At the end of the session, each participant created their own talent profile, set benchmarks, identified gaps, and formulated specific action plans to accelerate their personal growth and achieve win-win outcomes together with the company.

On October 19, Chen Songwen, Director of the Finance Department at ZeroOne Industrial, delivered a training session titled “Financial Management for Non-Financial Managers” to the Reserve Manager Class participants.

Through clear and concise explanations, General Chen helped the participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s end-to-end business process management, how enterprises can achieve sustained profitability, and an initial grasp of financial statements. At the same time, by drawing on a wealth of real-world case studies, he enabled the participants to deepen their awareness and comprehension of the common challenges they often encounter in their daily work. Following this, the participants eagerly raised questions about issues they had encountered in their regular business operations, and General Chen patiently answered each one, engaging in in-depth discussions and exchanges with everyone. In the evening, each group of participants organized their own informal discussions and exchanges, thoroughly absorbing and digesting the day’s lessons, and engaging in brainstorming sessions to fully prepare for the presentations they would deliver the next day.

On the morning of October 20, to assess everyone’s learning outcomes, all participants took a financial knowledge exam and then presented their findings in small groups. From the perspective of their respective positions, each participant shared their previous understanding of finance as well as their new insights gained from this course. General Manager Chen provided targeted guidance on each group’s presentation. Finally, after a comprehensive evaluation by both the instructor and the participants, one particular group stood out remarkably and was awarded the title of “Outstanding Group Participant” for this training session, receiving a beautifully crafted gift each.

Thus, the series of events celebrating the 25th anniversary of Zhengda Machinery & Electronics has been a complete success. This is a moment to express gratitude for the past—and also a time to look forward to the future.
